In this class participants will craft their own Small Purse Tote out of pre-stained natural rattan reed, learn how to insert cloth handles, and lash a rim onto the basket. A choice of strap colors will be offered. This project will highlight beginning weaving techniques and is suitable for all levels. Come try your hand at basket weaving and create your own useful mini tote to gift or keep! Students should wear clothing that can get stained and bring an old towel to class. Staining of the fingers and hands will occur when working with pre-stained reed (the stain is all natural and wears off within a couple of days). Gloves will be provided if desired. Participants should expect to complete the project in 1 session. All quality materials included. Suitable for ages 14 and up. "I really enjoyed the class, and students said that night that they were glad they participated. We should definitely do it again!" Vt State University, Patrick C.
