Mah Jongg For Beginners and Refreshers
This American version of Mah Jongg will start with a simplified game where players, pick up, discard and trade tiles to form an easy winning hand. Over the course of 4 weeks, we'll slowly add more tiles, increase the complexity of the winning hands (using National Mah Jongg League cards) and will talk about defense and sleuthing. Mah Jongg players enjoy bluffing, learn flexibility, and generally have a lot of fun. If you like card games, you'll probably love Mah Jongg.

Mixed Level Wheel-Throwing Thursdays (evenings) with Jessica LaBonte- 12 weeks!
If you are just beginning your wheel throwing journey, or if you have some experience, but want to learn more while you work independently, then join us for Mixed Level Wheel Throwing with Jessica LaBonte, owner of Cedar Tree Pottery. During these 12-weeks you will learn new skills, or refine your techniques, and create beautiful ceramics with as much instruction as you need. At the CVU ceramics studio, we offer and welcome a fun and judgement-free collaborative environment for potters of all levels. Only 10 spots available!Students will have access to stoneware, mid-fire clay, Cone 6. All clay, glazes (brushed and dipped), use of the studio, tools, as well as firing costs are included in the fee. NOTE: Only the provided glazes and clay are allowed in the studio.BONUS: Free access to "Open Studio" on Monday evenings 5pm-8pm starting Feb 16-May 4. No open studio on Feb 23 and April 20.Recommended minimum age: High School. "I really loved taking Beginner Ceramics with Jessica. Gentle Evening Yoga with Ellen
DANCE, YOGA & MINDFUL MOVEMENT
This gentle yoga class is a meditative, fluid, and soothing class suitable for all levels. Students will experience slow movements to warm the body and release stress and muscular tension, breathing techniques to support the nervous system, and simple postures to help build strength and stability. Suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Bring your mat and water bottle, as well as blocks and strap (towel) if needed. We will have some yoga mats and blocks available to borrow. Note: Jane Taylor will fill-in for Ellen on October 16th. "Ellen is a wonderful instructor, love her and her yoga classes!"

Slow Flow Afternoon Yoga with Ellen

This yoga class moves slowly and with intention so that the student can focus on being in the present moment. The integration of breath while holding poses for longer periods of time allows students the option to go deeper in a pose or find more softness. Suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Bring your mat and water bottle, as well as blocks and strap (towel), if available. We will have some yoga mats & blocks available to borrow. Yoga Flow for Strength and Balance
DANCE, YOGA & MINDFUL MOVEMENT
Find your strength, balance, and calm. Join Jane for an accessible, fun, energizing yoga flow that builds strength, develops balance, and brings students into their true nature of goodness. We’ll get the heart rate up with vigor and then wind down, relax, and release tension in a class designed to make you feel better than when you came in the door. Each class has a unique, relatable theme based on insights from the yoga tradition. You’ll feel better physically and enjoy a theme you can contemplate all week. Suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Participants should be comfortable sitting on and getting up from the floor. Bring your mat and water bottle, as well as blocks and strap if needed. We will have some yoga mats and blocks available to borrow. Note: Ellen Talbert will sub for Jane on 2/16 and 3/2.
