Stained Glass with Charlotte Sylvester
Charlotte Sylvester has been practicing stained glass since 2020 and is looking forward to guiding you through this intricate, interesting and inspiring process from start to finish. During this 5-session course, students will learn the fundamentals of the Copper Foil Technique and leave with a beautifully finished stained glass creation.Choose an entry level ‘cartoon’ or template, and learn the nuances of glass cutting, shaping, grinding, copper foiling and soldering. Students will first create a practice piece and with their newly discovered talent, they will craft a stained glass masterpiece to cherish or gift.Sign up early as there are limited spots available. Courses will be offered both in the fall and spring semesters to help accommodate this popular offering. This class is geared for beginners or intermediate levels, age requirement: 18+. All materials and tools are provided for use during this course.Requirement: Closed-toed shoes and pants. Safety glasses, gloves and mask are provided; please feel free to bring your own.Please note, this class is NOT recommended for those that are pregnant or breastfeeding due to the possible exposure of lead solder."Charlotte had such genuine enthusiasm for her craft and patience. Knit a "Colorwork" Hat!
Learn to knit with multiple colors, also known as colorwork! The Laurelhurst Hat pattern by NW Foraged is a wonderful first project to delve into stranded knitting. Techniques taught in this class: Learn to read a charted pattern Add a new yarn color for stripes Knit with two strands of yarn at the same time! Techniques practiced in class: Casting On and knitting in the round Knitting, purling, and ribbing Stranded Colorwork Reading a chart Decreasing for the crown If you’ve done a bit of knitting before, this class is just the thing to take you through the next steps in your journey!Required Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn- Adult Size Large needs at least 200 yards. You will need two skeins/balls/colors of yarn. One will be the main color for the background, and the second will be the contrasting color for the pattern work.Krista recommends contrasting solid colors for both yarns Berroco Vintage, Berroco Ultra Wool, and Malabrigo Rios are examples of Worsted Weight Yarn from Must Love Yarn.Yarn: Patons of North America: Classic Wool Worsted is an example from Joann’s or Michaels. Needles- You will need two sizes of 16” circular Needles: Size US 6/ 4.0 mm and US 7/ 4.5 mm. The smaller needles are for the ribbing. The larger needles are for the body of the hat. You will need double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size 7 to decrease the crown of the head. Other Tools: Darning Needle, Stitch Marker (or scrap yarn), scissors If you choose to visit Must Love Yarn to purchase any of the supplies needed for class, you can enjoy a 15% discount. Creative Mobile Photography- Creating the Scene
PHOTOGRAPHY, TECHNOLOGY, & DIGITAL SKILLS
Creative Mobile Photography invites students to expand their creativity and confidence using the most accessible camera of our time—the smartphone. Designed for photographers of all levels, this course explores how to move beyond snapshots and intentionally create compelling images using the device you already carry every day. Creative Mobile Photography is part of a three-course series. Each class can be taken independently, yet together they build skills and techniques for more expressive mobile photography. Additional courses in the series include Perspective Shift and Working with People. Creating the Scene (Feb 18 OR April 15) This class will challenge students with advanced techniques in mobile photography. Students will need to have a mobile phone with a solid understanding of the Camera app and a willingness to experiment. The course is designed around the default iPhone and Google camera apps. Working with motion and burst shutter Selecting and locking focus and exposure Introducing additional lighting sources Abstractions Requirement for all classes: Bring your charged iPhone, Android, or smartphone. Bring a charging cord, wall plug, and your questions! We have now taken three classes wth Kenrick and think he's fantastic. He plans each class thoughtfully to be a balance of lecture time and hands-on experience, while also frequently checking in with the class to see if anyone has questions. He is knowledgable, approachable, and his love of photography is infectious.

Moving Beyond Automatic Settings With Your Digital Camera
PHOTOGRAPHY, TECHNOLOGY, & DIGITAL SKILLS
This 2-session course will introduce students to their DSLR’s priority and full manual modes. By learning how and when to use each mode, students will gain greater creative control over their cameras. More advanced composition concepts will also be discussed based on students questions, levels and experience. Students will need to have a DSLR, mirrorless, or fixed lens camera capable of aperture and shutter priority and full manual modes. Long exposure and light painting will require a tripod. Session 1: This class will explain the exposure triangle and how to set exposure. Students will be introduced to and encouraged to explore of their camera’s priority modes. Exposure Triangle Aperture Priority Mode Shutter Speed Priority Mode Session 2: This class will build in the information from the previous class by delving deeper into the app and its features. Full Manual Mode Advanced Compositions Creative Explorations (Long exposure, ICM, Light painting) Requirement: DSLR Camera This course is repeated. (March 11, March 18), then again on (April 27, May4)

Creative Mobile Photography- Perspective Shift
PHOTOGRAPHY, TECHNOLOGY, & DIGITAL SKILLS
Creative Mobile Photography invites students to expand their creativity and confidence using the most accessible camera of our time—the smartphone. Designed for photographers of all levels, this course explores how to move beyond snapshots and intentionally create compelling images using the device you already carry every day. Creative Mobile Photography is part of a three-course series. Each class can be taken independently, yet together they build skills and techniques for more expressive mobile photography. Additional courses in the series include Working with People and Creating the Scene. Perspective Shift- Getting Creative (Offered on Feb 4 OR Apr 1) This class will get students beginning to think creatively about the camera and subject placement when taking an image. Students will need to have a mobile phone and a basic understanding of the camera app. The course is designed around the default iPhone and Google camera apps. During this 2 hour workshop we will discuss: Working with camera elevation, angle, and distance. Working with basic compositional rules. Experimenting with panoramas Requirement for all classes: Bring your charged iPhone, Android, or smartphone. Bring a charging cord and wall plug.

Creative Mobile Photography- Working with People
PHOTOGRAPHY, TECHNOLOGY, & DIGITAL SKILLS
Creative Mobile Photography invites students to expand their creativity and confidence using the most accessible camera of our time—the smartphone. Designed for photographers of all levels, this course explores how to move beyond snapshots and intentionally create compelling images using the device you already carry every day. Creative Mobile Photography is part of a three-course series. Each class can be taken independently, yet together they build skills and techniques for more expressive mobile photography. Additional courses in the series include Perspective Shift and Creating the Scene. Working with People (Feb 11 OR April 8) This class will teach students how to work with people and their surroundings to create more dynamic images featuring people. Students will need to have a mobile phone with a moderate understanding of the Camera app and its features. The course is designed around the default iPhone and Google camera apps. During this 2 hour workshop we will discuss: Working with the subject placement and the surroundings Working with the horizon line and leading lines Working with the available light Requirement for all classes: Bring your charged iPhone, Android, or smartphone. Bring a charging cord and wall plug.
