Stained Glass with Charlotte Sylvester
Charlotte Sylvester has been practicing stained glass since 2020 and is looking forward to guiding you through this intricate, interesting and inspiring process from start to finish. During this 5-session course, students will learn the fundamentals of the Copper Foil Technique and leave with a beautifully finished stained glass creation.Choose an entry level ‘cartoon’ or template, and learn the nuances of glass cutting, shaping, grinding, copper foiling and soldering. Students will first create a practice piece and with their newly discovered talent, they will craft a stained glass masterpiece to cherish or gift.Sign up early as there are limited spots available. Courses will be offered both in the fall and spring semesters to help accommodate this popular offering. This class is geared for beginners or intermediate levels, age requirement: 18+. All materials and tools are provided for use during this course.Requirement: Closed-toed shoes and pants. Safety glasses, gloves and mask are provided; please feel free to bring your own.Please note, this class is NOT recommended for those that are pregnant or breastfeeding due to the possible exposure of lead solder."Charlotte had such genuine enthusiasm for her craft and patience. Knit a "Colorwork" Hat!
Learn to knit with multiple colors, also known as colorwork! The Laurelhurst Hat pattern by NW Foraged is a wonderful first project to delve into stranded knitting. Techniques taught in this class: Learn to read a charted pattern Add a new yarn color for stripes Knit with two strands of yarn at the same time! Techniques practiced in class: Casting On and knitting in the round Knitting, purling, and ribbing Stranded Colorwork Reading a chart Decreasing for the crown If you’ve done a bit of knitting before, this class is just the thing to take you through the next steps in your journey!Required Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn- Adult Size Large needs at least 200 yards. You will need two skeins/balls/colors of yarn. One will be the main color for the background, and the second will be the contrasting color for the pattern work.Krista recommends contrasting solid colors for both yarns Berroco Vintage, Berroco Ultra Wool, and Malabrigo Rios are examples of Worsted Weight Yarn from Must Love Yarn.Yarn: Patons of North America: Classic Wool Worsted is an example from Joann’s or Michaels. Needles- You will need two sizes of 16” circular Needles: Size US 6/ 4.0 mm and US 7/ 4.5 mm. The smaller needles are for the ribbing. The larger needles are for the body of the hat. You will need double-pointed needles (DPNs) in size 7 to decrease the crown of the head. St. Patrick’s Day Irish Dance for Fun!
DANCE, YOGA & MINDFUL MOVEMENT
Celebrate your Irish heritage, or have fun learning about a different culture and learn an Irish jig in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Irish dance is for everyone! Learn a ceili dance and a reel with champion Irish dancer, Fiadhnait Moser-Hardy. No dance experience necessary. Bring a water bottle and wear moveable clothing and sneakers. Open to children and adults ages 10+ (children must be accompanied by an adult).

World Folklore and Writing Retellings - ONLINE
WRITING WORKSHOPS & AUTHORS
Fairies, witches, selkies, and gnomes—let’s tell a story of legends that will be passed down through generations! Led by published folklore author and writing professor, Fiadhnait Moser-Hardy, MFA, this class will explore folktales from around the world. We will examine oral storytelling traditions, modern folktale retelling techniques, and elements of literary craft. You will learn about folk creatures, mythological plot structures, and world building techniques. Then, you will draw inspiration from a folktale of your choice to retell in your own way. Leave this online course with the confidence and knowledge needed to write and publish your own folklore tale! Bring a story you’ve been working on or write the beginning of one throughout the course for full instructional benefit. Open to teens and adults.

Writing Children's and Young Adult Literature
WRITING WORKSHOPS & AUTHORS
Storytelling for children and young adults is about change—celebrating it, grieving it, and growing with it. In this course, you will learn about the children’s and young adult publishing market, from picture books to middle grade novels to young adult novels. Working closely with published children’s author and writing and children’s literature professor, Fiadhnait Moser-Hardy, MFA, you will learn about what makes a book for young people engaging and meaningful. You will write and revise a picture book or a section of a middle grade or young adult novel throughout these 5, 2 hour sessions. Leave this course with the confidence and knowledge needed to write and publish your story! Bring a story you’ve been working on or write the beginning of one throughout the course for full instructional benefit. Open to teens and adults.

Impressionist Oil Painting Night: Coast of Ireland
ARTS & CRAFTS
Tap into your inner artist and try a new style of painting using oil paints and palette-knives! During this one-night course, Fia will teach you the basic properties of oil painting and color application. Using only a palette knife, you will create a modern round impressionist-style painting, "Coast of Ireland" Grab a friend for this fun evening and take home a masterpiece! All materials, including oil paints, are included in the fee. Please bring a box or container to transport your masterpiece as oil paints take a long time to dry. Wear clothing that may get dirty, and feel free to bring a non-alcoholic beverage! No previous art experience necessary. All levels welcomed! Minimum age: 16+ "I had fun painting with oil! Spring Foxes in Acrylic with Fia!
ARTS & CRAFTS
Tap into your inner artist and try a new style of painting using acrylic paint and wood as a canvas! During this 3 -session course, Fia will teach you the basic properties of acrylic painting and color application. 9'-12' Wood rounds will be used as the canvas for this project. This makes a great image to display or hang indoors or outside as a welcome sign. All materials are included in the fee. Please bring a box or container to transport your painting each session. Wear clothing that may get dirty, and feel free to bring a non-alcoholic beverage! or snacks to class. No previous art experience necessary. All levels welcomed! Minimum age: 16+
