Access At CVUHS

Calling all experienced potters! This is an opportunity for individuals who have previous wheel experience and feel relatively comfortable throwing or hand-building bowl forms. We welcome you to come to the CVU Pottery Studio and develop your skills while supporting a great cause. During this course, you will create and finish a collection of 15-20+ bowls depending on your proficiency. All the bowls will be donated to the Empty Bowls* Fundraiser. This is a great opportunity for additional throwing time, to connect with other potters, and to uplift our community! *Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement, led by artists and craftspeople, in cities and towns around the world to raise money for food related charities and to bring awareness about food insecurity within local communities. Teryn has honed her craft working in the CVU studio, the Shelburne Craft School, the Middlebury Studio School as well as her home studio. Teryn spent many years attending empty bowl dinners at UVM and is excited to bring this tradition to CVU through the Access program. Layout of classes: 3-4 sessions of wheel throwing 2-3 sessions of trimming 2-3 sessions of glazing The Empty Bowl Fundraiser Soup Dinner will take place on Friday, April 11th, 2025 at CVU High School. Lift up our community and join us for the second CVU Empty Bowls Dinner, Thursday, April 10th, 6:00pm at the CVU High School Café. This popular event sold out quickly last year, so don't delay in purchasing your tickets. Only 300 tickets available! NOTE: TICKETS WILL NOT BE FOR SALE AT THE EVENT! Empty Bowls is a global grassroots movement that rallies communities to combat food insecurity. Community members are invited to participate in a soup dinner to raise money for a local food shelf. This year's recipient will be the Hinesburg Food Shelf at the Hinesburg Community Resource Center. The Hinesburg Community Resource Center (HCRC) is a volunteer non-profit 501(C)3 organization of neighbors helping neighbors. HCRC responds to the needs of Hinesburg area residents while we build community and extend a helping hand. Tickets: $20 donation per adult, $10 donation per child (<12 years). Donations: If you are not able to make the dinner event OR in addition to your dinner ticket, please consider a monetary donation. All monetary donations are tax deductible (A donation receipt will be emailed after the event, from HCRC, for your tax records). Silent Auction*: Featured products donated by local businesses, additional bowls, as well as beautiful wooden cutting boards handcrafted by CVU woodworking students will be open for bid.
