This 3 week course is for beginners interested in learning how to crochet amigurumi. Students in this class will create a hanging potted plant. We will cover how to read a pattern, what yarn weight means, how to choose your hook, and beginning level stitches.
For students aged 13 and older. Students aged 10-12 are welcome to join with a caregiver who is also registered.
Please plan to purchase the following supplies ahead of time and bring them to the first class:
Yarn: Each student will need to bring three colors of yarn. One color for the pot, one color for the soil, and one color for the plant. For this project, worsted weight acrylic yarn is recommended. Yarn Weight Guide
A crochet hook: The yarn you bring will have a hook size recommended on the packaging. Jessica, your instructor, recommends sizing down from the recommended size to achieve a tighter stitch. For example, if the packaging recommends a 4mm hook, she'd recommend bringing a 3mm or 3.5 mm hook. Ergonomic hooks are ideal, but comes down to personal preference. An example: Ergonomic Hooks
Scissors: Bring scissors which you are comfortable with using.
Tapestry Needle: Either plastic or metal tapestry needles will work.
There will be extra supplies available to students if needed.
Hi! My name is Jessica Loflin. I am an avid crocheter from Colorado who loves creating art and sharing it with the people in my life. Over the past 10 years, I've worked on a wide range of projects, primarily focused on crocheting amigurumi, as well as creating various crochet garments and wearable pieces.
