Introduction to Crochet: Decorative Pumpkin

ARTS & CRAFTS -
Fall/Winter 2024

This class is appropriate for those brand new to crochet or those who have done it in the past and need a refresher of the basics. Learn the most common crochet stitches, how to choose the appropriate hook and yarn for a project, and beginning pattern reading. As a mostly self-taught crocheter, Kelly will also share the many free resources that you can use to jumpstart your crochet journey. By the end of the classes, you will have a 3 dimensional crochet pumpkin!

For students aged 13 and older.

Supplies Needed:

  • One skein of WORSTED weight acrylic yarn in a pumpkiny color of your choice (NOT black). Big Twist Value (JoAnn's), Loops and Thread Classic (Michael's), or Red Heart Super Saver are all great basic and inexpensive brands.
  • A 5 or 5.5 MM Crochet Hook. These are also called H/8 or I/9 in US terms. A set like this one is a great thing to start with so you can try out different sizes. You can also find individual hooks at craft stores or online.
  • A small pair of craft scissors would be helpful to have, but no need to buy new- we will have extras for you to borrow.

This class will take place inside CVU.
