Travel in a van conversion is a low-cost and self-contained travel option that appeals to folks comfortable with and excited by the prospect of independent exploration. Whether staying at campgrounds or at “dispersed camping” areas, you can optimize your home-on-wheels to meet your own requirements. Over the course of 4 sessions, we will discuss and share ideas, methods, and experiences. This is great class for anyone interested in van conversions and/or has some experience and is looking for more. Note, this is not a shop class.
Which vehicle is best for conversion? How to plan for a space that will meet your particular needs? Why not buy an RV or a factory van conversion? This forum will take a methodical approach to discussion of needs, priorities, and limitations, including, but not limited to:
The Big Tin Can: walls, ceilings, floors, insulation, noise suppression, ventilation.
Electricity: solar panels, battery options, charger/inverters, DC/AC wiring, lighting, ventilation, heating.
Sleeping: bed and bedding options.
Storage: shelving, drawers, dedicated space for bicycles or other specific needs.
Cooking: built-in or outside, refrigerator/coolers.
Bathroom needs: the most-frequently asked question, no-contest.
Camping: What options exist for staying in developed or dispersed areas?
