Deborah Rubin has worked as a hobbyist beekeeper off and on for the past 10 years. She has had the privilege of being mentored by Bill Mares. She recently joined the hale group in the production of BTV honey. She is presently (mostly) retired as an Attending Physician in Radiation Oncology and has taught at UVMMC as Associate Professor in Radiology.
I started beekeeping in 1996 with 2 packages of bees. Now in 2024, I have comfortably settled on 7 hives. I have served in the Mentor Program with the Vermont Beekeeping Association for many years and have helped other people new to beekeeping unravel the mysteries of these wonderful creatures. Teaching the Intro to Beekeeping course is a great way for me to stay current on the most recent developments in beekeeping, as well as, meeting new, energetic beekeepers.
