Have you always wanted to try your hand at the pottery wheel, especially after watching that scene with Demi Moore in Ghost, 34 years ago? Well, this is your chance to get your hands dirty, and create some beautiful pieces of pottery in this 10-week, beginner and judgement-free class. Only 10 spots available!
Jessica LaBonte, owner of Cedar Tree Pottery, will teach you the techniques on how to make the two basic forms- the bowl and the cylinder. You will also have the opportunity to mix your colors and practice decorating and finishing techniques using our extensive glaze options.
Students will each receive one 25lb bag of stoneware, mid-fire clay, cone 6. Access to all stocked glazes, dipping, and tools to use during class. NOTE: Only studio glazes will be allowed. All clay, glazes, use of the studio, tools, as well as firing costs are included in the fee.
BONUS: Free access to "Open Studio" is on Monday evenings 5pm-8pm starting 9/23-12/16. Wheel usage is on a first come basis.
Wear comfortable clothing, prepared to get messy, and have a whole lotta fun!
LaBonte learned from the potters of southern Vermont when she attended Marlboro College in the nineties and interned at several local studios. She continued her studies at the University of Vermont and earned her art education degree in the year 2000 and received a masters in studio art at the College of New Rochelle in 2008.
