Please check-in at the CVU main entrance before the start of the first class."Ben is a wonderful instructor and this was my second class with him. Supply of materials and tools to complete the project are superior, all you need to bring is your creativity. Ben is patient and supportive instructor who takes the time to help you understand the craft and encourages you to "make it your own." Welding Clinics
These clinics are one-night, three-hour offerings, which are meant for students who have taken the "Introduction to Welding Through Fabrication" course at Access or have a solid understanding of the basic terminology and relevant welding experience. There will be three different clinics available: SMAW (Stick / arc welding), GMAW (MIG / wire feed welding) *GTAW (TIG welding). The maximum enrollment will be six students per clinic allowing for two students per welding station, and access to two instructors during each clinic. This ratio ensures students will have optimal welding time and close individualized instruction. There will be a brief overview and refresher at the start of the clinic. During the registration process you will have the opportunity to answer a brief questionnaire to give the instructors a better understanding of what topics to specifically cover during the allotted time. The idea is that students already know enough to start welding right away. The focus of these clinics will be attaining proficiency in welding the three standard joints (butt, lap and T). Out of position welding will be encouraged. *Note- For GTAW we will focus on welding aluminum only. The shop has welding PPE to borrow, but it may not fit properly and is used a fair amount by all students. If you have your own, please bring it to the clinic.
