  • Life on the Homefront

On December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and, as America entered the war, life at home changed for everyone. You've probably heard stories from relatives about the war, and this class will expand your knowledge of the war years. How did wartime affect the daily lives of women, children, teenagers and those men left behind? The US was completely unprepared for war; how did the country go quickly from peacetime to wartime production of weapons, ammunition, planes and tanks? How did people cope with not being able to buy what they wanted, when they wanted it? What were the psychological effects on the American people? (remember that no one knew if we'd win or lose the war)! Find out the answer to these questions and more as well as see vintage photos of life on the homefront. This class will meet at CVU.
