In this hands-on class, learn the fundamentals of building fire in nature! Learn two of the many methods possible in making a primitive fire. Using a steel striker, a quartz rock, and char cloth, all will accomplish starting a fire. Week 2 will be the carving of a bowdrill fire set and then creating a friction fire using materials you can find on a stroll through the woods. Participants should bring a camp chair if they have one. All tools and material included in fee (approx. $25). This class will meet outside CVU- please dress for the weather. Please wear a mask and check-in at the front entrance of CVU before the first class.

Have you thought about keeping bees? This is the opportunity to learn more about these vital and fascinating creatures providing so much of our food. The instructors have over 50 years of experience among them. The three sessions will enlighten, and maybe inspire, you to start a few hives of your own or learn more about your bee passion. Plenty of question-and-answer time and all the info needed to start your own operation. A course book valued at $10 will be available for pickup at CVU.
