In this presentation, Alana Stevenson goes over how dogs communicate through body-language with each other and with people. Learn how your body-language and movement can affect dog behavior both on and off-leash. 

Predict conflict at dog parks and understand when and why a dog might shy away or bite. Appeasement gestures and why you should never punish a dog for growling will be discussed

This class will meet online. Look for an invitation to be sent a day or two before the class starts.

Alana Stevenson

Alana Stevenson, M.S. is a professional animal behavior specialist and dog trainer. She has a Master of Science in Biology Education and a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Alana is a certified Fear Free Professional and certified in Low Stress Handling for Dogs and Cats. She is on the Cat-Friendly Practice Advisory Council for the American Association of Feline Practitioners, and is the author of two books on humane dog training and behavior modification: The Right Way the First Time: Teaching Your Dog Kindly & Humanely (2007) and Training Your Dog the Humane Way: Simple Teaching Tips for Resolving Problem Behaviors and Raising a Happy Dog (2011).

She has over twenty years experience teaching dogs and working with aggression and behavioral problems.
