Baking 101: Rhubarb Shortcakes
COOKING & CUISINE -
Learn the basic techniques for making perfectly flaky shortcakes that you can adapt all season long. We will make beautiful tender shortcakes and top them with a bright rhubarb compote and luscious cream.
Each participant will go home with all the components to assemble six shortcakes at home.
Students aged 13 and over welcome; younger students should be accompanied by an adult.
This class will meet inside CVU.
Ellie Irving spent her childhood in North Carolina visiting the farmer’s market and baking birthday cakes for her classmates. She studied psychology at Davidson College where she became interested in farming. She worked three farming seasons around the country before moving to Vermont in 2019 to work in the kitchen at Philo Ridge Farm in Charlotte. She is currently the pastry chef at Philo where she creates both breakfast pastries and seasonal plated desserts.
